The first time you open EndNote you will see the following screen:
Click on the X to close. Go to File > New and create a new library.
Click on Set up your account if you want to work with an EndNote online account.
Choose Create a New Library. Name your library and save it.
Go to File > New and create a new library.
The Library window includes four panes:
1. Groups pane: groups you have created to sort your references for easy retrieval.
2. Search pane: to search your references.
3. Reference List pane: multi-column list of references including the author, year, title, rating, journal, last updated and reference type.
4. Edit/Preview/PDF pane: to view or edit your reference and add or view a PDF.
Preview a reference: Highlight a reference in the Library. The preview pane shows the bibliographic details in the current output style.
View or edit a reference: Double click on a reference. A screen will appear showing the components of the reference.
Sort the references: References can be sorted by clicking on a column heading, such as Author, Year or Title.
