Locating images and photographs is an important feature for scholarship. Search results in many scholarly databases can now be expanded to include photographs or images.

Finding images in UC databases
- EBSCOhost Image CollectionOver 510,000 images relating to people, natural science, places, history, maps and flags
- JSTOR Fulltext archive journal collection for the arts, humanities and social sciences. Click on "i" above for specific instructions
- Factiva The Factiva database also includes an ever-expanding archive of more than two million news photos from Reuters and other sources as far back as the 1980s. Click on the "i" for specific instructions.

- Google Advanced Image Search For re-usable images, use the Usage Rights filter.
- WorldImagesCalifornia State University. Global listing. search by keyword or portfolio.
- Flickr Creative Commons imagesPlease follow "attribution" categories information on copyright.
- Wikimedia CommonsA media file repository making available public domain and freely-licensed educational media content (images, sound and video clips) to everyone, in their own language
