Read & Publish Agreements and Publisher Discounts: MDPI (Discount)

This guide explains Read & Publish open access agreements provided for UC researchers by the Library. These agreements remove Article Processing Fees payable by authors for open access publishing to included publishers and journals.

MDPI Open Access Article Processing Charge (APC) Discount

UC authors receive a 10% discount on article processing charges and book publishing charges for open access publishing from MDPI 

Please note: this is not a Read & Publish Agreement, simply a discount on APC fees.

MDPI has not excluded any of their journals from this discount:

Eligible article types

  • Submitted manuscripts containing original research are eligible for the discount
  • Affiliated authors also receive a 10% discount on charges associated with open access book publishing with MDPI

Limitations on the discount

  • Only one discount per paper, and the discount cannot be combined with other available discounts (e.g., discount vouchers, or society membership discounts)
  • Any staff or student affiliated with University of Canberra will qualify for the discount
