Essential Equipment for Online Study

This is a list of equipment that we recommend for students studying online.

Essential Equipment

Computer / Laptop

Charger, extension cord and powerboard (if required)

Headphones with microphone

Webcam (either built into your computer or separate USB webcam)

USB Memory Stick/s or external hard drive for backing up work or transporting work from one computer to another

Essential Software

Office 365 including OneDrive for saving files.  Office 365 is free for University students.  Log in to Office 365 ProPlus to download (Links to an external site.).

Google Chrome (this is the preferred internet browser for University systems)

Videoconferencing software such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Hangouts or WhatsApp for groupwork

Additional Equipment - Non-Essential

Calculator (if you are doing units with mathematics content)

Printer / Scanner
