This guide explains open access publishing agreements provided for UC researchers by the Library.

Emerald - Read & Publish Agreement

The University of Canberra has a Read & Publish Agreement with Emerald for 2025-2026.

Journals included in this agreement

University of Canberra authors may publish open access without APCs in hybrid journals which are included in UC's subscription collections, and in 11 fully open access journals.

Eligible article types

The following article types are eligible for open access under this agreement:

  • Research Paper
  • Practitioner Paper
  • Case Study
  • General Review
  • Literature Review
  • Precis
  • Original Article
  • Empirical Research Article
  • Standard Paper
  • Article 

Limitations of the agreement

  • Your paper must be accepted for publication from 1/1/2025
  •  Authors should always check each journal’s submission guidelines to ensure that they will not be subject to any other fees or charges
  • There is no cap on the number of articles that will be accepted under this agreement

How to submit your article

Corresponding authors will be identified as eligible for this agreement by their email address and institutional affiliation. Do not use a personal email address, such as Hotmail.

The following instructions for authors have been provided by the publisher. Further details are available on the publisher’s website.

  1. Visit ScholarOne to submit your article in your chosen journal.
  2. Use your participating institution as your primary affiliation.
  3. Select your primary institution from the dropdown list if it appears.
  4. Upon submission, your article will enter the peer-review process.
  5. If your article is accepted, you will receive an email to confirm Emerald contact.
  6. When selecting the publishing option, choose ‘Accept the voucher’.
  7. Read the terms and conditions and sign the CC BY 4.0 licence by ticking the box.
  8. The article will enter the production process and will be published open access.
